India: Madhujore becomes first coal project to be allocated under abandoned mines scheme

Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL) has successfully carried out the tender process for sale of Madhujore underground coal project under the abandoned mines scheme. The mine located in West Bengal was allocated to Coal Mines Associated Traders at a revenue share of 32%, thus becoming the first abandoned mine to be sold under the provision. The extractable reserve of the mine is around 40 mnt.
