India: Bulk ferrous scrap imports exceed previous limit

  • India’s bulk ferrous scrap imports hit another height with 412,454 t till 21st Nov’22. The volumes increased by 23% m-o-m compared to 336,644 t in Oct’22.
  • A spike in imports was caused by lower bulk costs relative to container pricing and a shortage of scrap in the local market.
  • Major exporters were the UK and the US.
