SteelMint’s daily steel billet index was assessed at INR 41,200/tonne (t) (- INR 1,100/t) exw-Raipur on 16 November, 2022. The index dipped on lower bids and supply-demand mispatch on account of poor finished steel sales. Trades were recorded for about 900 t on 16 November against 2,750 t on 15 November.
SteelMint’s daily sponge iron, CDRI, index was assessed at INR 30,450/tonne (t) (- INR 50) exw-Rourkela on 16 November, 2022. The index plunged to a 12-month low; the previous low of INR 30,300/t exw was recorded on 15 November, 2021. Spot trades decreased rapidly as a result of poor buying interest and a significant price correction in north India.
