South Asia’s imported scrap market saw few transactions today as demand for finished steel remained limited. Bangladeshi buyers are procuring material from various origins as prices by European suppliers are not workable at the moment. Pakistan booked around 5,500 t shredded scrap in containers from the UK/EU at $415-417/t CFR Qasim over the last two-three days.

Recent trades
- Around 1,000 tonnes (t) of HMS scrap of West African origin was traded at $375/t and 500 t of shredded scrap was sold at $418/t CFR Nhava Sheva.
- Total transactions for 1,000 t of premium quality HMS scrap of Europe origin were heard at $448/t CFR Chittagong.

- Europe-origin shredded scrap offers into India were at $420/t CFR Nhava Sheva.
- UK-origin shredded scrap prices were at $418/t CFR Qasim.
- UK-origin shredded prices were $445-450/t CFR Chittagong, a decrease of $1/t d-o-d.
