The 3rd day of e-auction i.e. 16 Feb’15 has ended with three coal block winners, which have passed through one reverse and two forward auction processes.
The 3rd day of auction that started with three coal blocks namely Marki Mangli III, Mandla North and Trans Damodar are bagged by BS Ispat, DPL and JP Associates respectively. A very tough competition has been seen in the e-auction between government and private bidders.
JP Associates – Mandla North
JP Associates has grabbed Mandla North mine situated in Madhya Pradesh with bid of INR 2,502/MT. The company was erstwhile holder of the block and again won the mines in current e-auction by quoting highest bid.
Durgapur Projects – Trans Damodar
DPL, a West Bengal based government power producer, has won Trans Damodar mine (48 MnT reserves) by defeating CESC, GMR, Essar and JSW Energy. The company agreed to pay INR 940/MT in reverse bidding. The state government has retained control over the Trans Damodar coal mine, which have high grade coal reserves.
DPL has been supplying electricity to industrial customers based in West Bengal (Asansol region). The company has 700 MW power project, which sources fuel from CIL.
BS Ispat – Marki Mangli III
Marki Mangli III block, which is reserved for the non-power sector and has 4.2 MnT of reserves, is won by BS Ispat with bid of INR 918/MT. The company has defeated its competitors like JSW Cement, Sunflag Iron & Steel and Topworth Urja & Metals.
