Peru, a leading producer of silver, copper, zinc, gold, tin, lead, and molybdenum, has recorded growth in production of copper by over 10%, while zinc and lead production fell by up to 16% m-o-m in September 2022.
Overall production rose marginally to 359,234 tonnes (t) in September as against 357,329 t in August.
Zinc production falls 13%
The country recorded a 13.12% decline in zinc production to 109,966 t in September as against 126,577 t in August.
On y-o-y basis, zinc production fell 14% as against 128,085 t in September 2021.
Production in January-September was at 101,6064 t, a decrease of 13.29% compared to 117,1846 t in the same period last year.
Lead production decreases nearly 17%
Peru’s lead production fell 16.23% to 19,278 t in September as against 23,013 t in August.
Lead production fell by 10.68% y-o-y as against 21,585 t in September last year.
Production in January-September stood at at 187,474 t, a decrease of 5.09% compared to 197,544 t in the same period last year.
Copper production rises over 10%
Peru’s copper production rose 10.71% to 229,990 t in September as against 207,739 t in August.
Copper production rose by 13.47% y-o-y as against 202,681 t in September 2021.
Production in January-September this year touched 1.72 mnt, up 2.98% compared to 167,9428 t in the same period last year.
