The New South Wales (NSW) Independent Planning Commission has rejected Glencore’s application to expand the Glendell coal mine stating that an open cut mining would have an adverse effect on the heritage values in the region. The Glendell mine is in the Ravensworth Homestead complex in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW and produces thermal and semi soft metallurgical coal.
