South Africa, Indonesia to get $1 bn to replace coal plants with renewables

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) will give South Africa and Indonesia a combined $1 billion to replace part of its coal-fired power plants with renewable energy facilities. South Africa will use this money to close coal-fired electricity station and replace with renewable energy plants. In Indonesia, CIF will work with state power provider to accelerate the closure of 2000 MW of coal-fired generation.
