SteelMint’s daily steel billet index was assessed at INR 46,700/tonne (t) (- INR 50/t) exw-Raipur on 20 October, 2022. Lower bids and slow buying interest continued to weigh on prices. Spot deals of around 2,700 t were recorded on 20 October in Raipur as against 1,750 t on 19 October.
SteelMint’s daily sponge iron, CDRI, index was assessed at INR 33,400/tonne (t) (- INR 50) exw-Rourkela on 20 October, 2022. There was lack of buying interest and so spot trades remained low. About 1,150 t of transactions were recorded on 19 Octobre as against 3,260 t on 19 October.
SteelMint’s benchmark price assessment for HRCs stood at around INR 56,000-57,000/t ($677-689), down INR 700/t ($8) w-o-w. CRC prices dropped by INR 300/t ($4) w-o-w to INR 64,500-65,500/t ($779-791). Prices mentioned above are on an exy-Mumbai basis, excluding GST @ 18%.
