SteelMint’s bi-weekly domestic pellet (Fe 63%) index, PELLEX, stood at INR 8,150/tonne (t) on 14 October, down by INR 250/t compared to the last assessment on 11 October, 2022. The reduction in offers by a couple of pellet players and subdued steel demand in secondary players have kept pellet bids on the lower side.
SteelMint’s daily sponge iron, CDRI, index was assessed at INR 33,650/tonne (t) (- INR 50) exw-Rourkela on 14 October, 2022. The decrease in steel prices in the Punjab market resulted in fewer purchase inquiries, which forced producers to float offers at lower levels. About 2,950 t of transactions were recorded on 14 October as against 4,050 t on 13 October.
