South Africa exported 1.145 mn t of chrome ore in Aug’22, down 1.2% on the month as against 1.159 mn t in July. The major importing countries were China at 0.635 mn t, followed by Mozambique at 0.364 mn t and Hong Kong at 0.106 mn t. However, South Africa’s total exports of chrome ore stood at 9.425 mn t in Jan-Aug’22 – an increase of 0.45% y-o-y on the same period last year.
