Japan: Manganese ore imports shoot up m-o-m in Aug’22

  • Japan’s manganese ore imports were recorded at 129,278 t in Aug’22, a humongous rise of 1700% compared to 7,185 t in July, as per customs data.
  • Major exporters were South Africa at 75,059 t, Australia at 46,200 t and Gabon at 8,000 t.
  • Low inventory as well as high ferro manganese demand in the steel industry boosted manganese ore imports, SteelMint understands.
