South African high-CV RB1 (6000 kcal/kg NAR) grade coal prices have surged by $19/t d-o-d to $314/t FOB amid a sharp rise in LNG prices. The rise in gas prices came following a severe leakage from both strands of the Nord Stream pipeline under the Baltic Sea. Amid fewer hopes of Russian gas supply resuming for Germany, coal demand in Europe may to remain higher in the upcoming winters.
