Russia-China railway border crossing construction to boost coal trade

In an attempt to boost bilateral coal trade between Russia and China, the railway border crossing of Grodekovo-Suifenhe is currently under construction. It will increase the annual carrying capacity to 17.7 mnt by 2024. A conveyor system will also be built across the Amur River for deliveries to east China. Total Russian coal volumes crossing the borders with China stood at 4.9 mnt during Jan-Aug’22.
