Power generation in China rose by 10% y-o-y to 824.8 billion Kwh in Aug’22 as economic activity continues to recover and as the country emerged from its worst-hit energy crisis last year. However, volumes rose marginally by 2% m-o-m. Generation by coal-fired power plants was the highest amid record-high output this year, while hydropower power generation fell by 11% amid severe drought along the Yangtze river.
