India: AM/NS Hazira receives environmental clearance for steel capacity expansion

ArcelorMIttal/Nippon Steel India (AM/NSI) has received environmental clearance on 12 Sep’22 to expand its steel capacity at Hazira works, Gujarat. The steelmaker proposed to expand its crude steel capacity to 15.6 mnt/year from 9.6 mnt at present with installation of 3×350 tonne BOF converters. The proposal also included expansion of its finished steel (HRC) capacity to 14 mnt/year from 8 mnt at present.
