Bhutan: New power tariffs to impact ferro silicon production

Bhutan Electricity Authority (BEA) recently raised power tariffs by 20% for the three-year cycle period. Energy charges for high voltage consumers (ferro silicon, cement, and steel producers) have been revised to Nu 1.6 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from Nu 1.5. With the new tariff, a ferro silicon unit running at 18 megavolt amperes (MVA) will pay an additional Nu 5 million per month.
