Iron Ore Imports will come Down

Increased production and falling Iron ore/Pellet prices in the domestic market may affect rising Iron ore imports to India. India imported about 9.5 MnT during Apr’14-Dec’14.

Pellet Prices under pressure

Pellet prices will further come under pressure owing to falling lump prices and low demand from Sponge manufacturers. Pellet prices have corrected by around INR 1,000/MT in last 1-month. Current prices are hovering in the range of INR 6,800-7,300/MT ex-works for Fe 63% Pellets.

Odisha 50:50 Rule

Steelmakers in Odisha back-out from the Iron ore allocation made to them by the state government under 50:50 rule. Manufacturers claimed there are lot of flaws in the mechanism of allotment.
