India: Bulk ferrous scrap imports rise significantly, m-o-m, in Aug’22

India’s bulk ferrous scrap imports stood at 54,092 t in Aug’22 against 5,483 t in July, a mammoth jump of 886% m-o-m.
Similarly, bulk scrap imports increased by 135% y-o-y compared to 23,020 t in Aug’21.
Active bookings on cheaper landed cost of imports due to lower bulk freight rates and fall in global prices boosted import volumes last month.
