South Africa: Coal export corridor shuts down temporarily on cable theft

Owing to two major incidents of cable theft, South Africa’s north corridor coal export rail line was temporarily shut down this week. The theft has been an extensive one which includes catenary wire theft. The incident, however, has a limited impact on the country’s thermal coal prices as RB1 grade prices came down only by $6/t on w-o-w basis.
