- Shyam Metaliks and Energy Ltd (SMEL) – one of the leading steel manufacturers in eastern India – has added new capacities at its existing plants. The additional capacity is for finish long products.
- About 0.3 mnt pa capacity is added to the Sambalpur plant in Odisha and 0.26 mnt pa is added to Jamuria plant in West Bengal.
- The company’s total long steel production capacity now stands at around 2 mnt pa.
