India: Australian 4600 NAR coal booked at INR 12,000/t in Vizag

In a confirmed deal, 1,000 t of Australian 4600 kcal/kg NAR grade coal with 45% fixed carbon was booked at INR 12,000/t at Vizag Port. Sponge iron manufacturers were heard blending Australian coal coming from Carmichael mine with South African RB2 (5500 NAR) and RB3 (4800 NAR). Elevated South African coal prices amid strong European demand has compelled Indian DRI producers to look for other origin coal.
