Indonesia: Energy ministry urges miners to supply additional 2.2 mnt to PLN this year

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has asked miners to supply an additional 2.20 mnt of thermal coal over the projected 64 mnt this year for the consumption of state-owned power utility PLN due to higher-than-expected power demand. The additional burden comes as some small miners have failed to fulfill the scheduled DMO obligations, while there is a renewed interest from China with traders raising inquiries for winter heating period.
