Australia: Coal output likely to be affected as weather bureau raises La Nina alert

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has again upgraded its La Nina watch for 2022-23 to an alert, increasing alarm about the prospects of another wet year. Coal supplies from New South Wales and Queensland are likely to be disrupted as heavy rainfall would affect mining, railing and shipping. Thermal coal exports in Jul’22 fell to over two-year lows of 11.6 mnt, CoalMint data shows.
