Steel billet prices in China’s Tangshan fell by RMB 60/t ($9/t) on 17 Aug’22 following a slump in rebar futures. Prices stood at RMB 3,730/t ($550/t), inclusive of 13% VAT. According to data maintained with SteelMint, China’s SHFE rebar futures contract for Oct’22 delivery closed today at RMB 3,993/t ($589/t), a sharp decrease of RMB 160/t ($24/t), d-o-d.
