India: OMC sends Iron Ore Linkage List to Odisha Government for Final Approval

Bhubaneswar: A state-owned miner, Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has finalized the Iron ore linkage list and has sent it to the Steel & Mines department for final approval. The list includes the Odisha based steel plants and the amount of raw material (Iron ore) to be supplied. However, according to sources, Pellet producers were excluded from the list.

“Recently, we have sent a list carrying the beneficiary steel units and the amount of Iron ore to be supplied to each industry to the Steel & Mines department for final clearance. However, Pellet produces were not included in the list,” said a senior official of OMC.

In September, the Odisha Cabinet has cleared a proposal to supply raw material to state based units, which have signed MoUs with the government for setting up of steel and other mineral based industries. As per the proposal, OMC would supply half of its Iron ore to the units on long-term basis. In case of Chrome ore, OMC would supply 70% of its material to the units on long-term linkage basis.

The state government has already signed MoUs with 49 companies for setting up steel plants in Odisha, out of which 31 projects have already started production, fully or partially.
