Taiwan: Coal imports rise 19% in July as power demand soars

Taiwan’s thermal coal imports continue to gain strength as it rose by 19% m-o-m to 6.1 mnt in July amid soaring power demand, customs data showed. The record-high power consumption has come amid rising temperatures, and increased industrial needs. However, imports were 10% down on a y-o-y basis amid elevated coal prices this year.
