Germany restarts coal power plant amid gas crisis

Germany has resumed operations at Mehrum coal power plant to mitigate the shortfall emerging from gas supply crisis. The plant, having capacity of 270 MW, was on reserve mode but has been put into operation after Russia had cut gas supplies by 20%. As a result of the sanctions imposed on Russia, Germany is also exploring alternate markets for coal, with Indonesia emerging as the most likely origin.
