Today, in one of the India’s largest Scrap consumers & suppliers trade meet organized by SteelMint, Susmita Dasgupta, Joint Chief Economist, JPC, Ministry of Steel has shared her view on present scenario of Indian Steel Industry. Her views are:
Will India be able to meet a 100 MnT mark?
- It’s time that along with Steelmaking, R&D must be taken up by the private producers.
When was the decline?
- Year 2004. Raw material trade was cheaper than steelmaking.
China Boom – Colonisation due to De-industrialization
- Chinese & Japanese will establish their power in the world first followed by profit making. Projecting this trend, trading will be more promising than steel manufacturing.
