EWP, KOSEP & FPG planning to purchase Coal

East Asian companies are continuously chasing to fulfill the operational requirement of their power plants. Korean Gencos and Taiwan’s power sector have been continuously in demand to purchase Non-coking coal of Anthracite or Steam coal grade. Meanwhile, in the global market, Non-coking coal demand has been sluggish since starting of FY15.

Details of Tenders regarding purchase of Coal

1. Korea East-West Power (EWP): The company is tendering for purchase of 40,000 MT Anthracite coal in order to meet the operational requirement of Dongha Thermal Power Plant. The quality of coal to be purchased should be purely Anthracite except Chinese and North Korean coal.

The material should contain GCV min 4,600 kcal/kg. The delivery schedule shall be from 01-31 Jan, 2015. Deadline for submission of bids is till 27 Nov, 2014 at 13.00 hrs.

2. Korea South-East Power: Formerly known as KOSEP, a Korean power producer, intends to procure a total quantity of 80,000 MT Steam coal on firm price basis for its Yeongdong Thermal Power Plant. Quality of coal should be semi-Anthacite and supply should be from single mine. Last date of  bid submission  is 28 Nov, 2014 at 15.00 hrs.

A.Shipment Delivery scheduled between 01 and 20 Jan, 2015
Quantity of coal to be purchased is 20,000 MT containing NCV min 5,300 Kcal/kg. Single fixed price should be quoted only in CFR basis.

B. Shipment Delivery scheduled between 25 Feb and 20 Mar, 2015
Quantity of coal to be purchased is 60,000 MT containing NCV min 4,200 Kcal/kg. Single fixed price should be quoted only in CFR basis; shipment is from Panamex vessel and the quoted price should be in FOB.

KOSEP on the behalf of five Korean Gencos has again floated a tender for purchase of 1.22 MnT Steam coal only on FOBT price basis. Also, Russian coal suppliers are not allowed to participate in this tender. Deadline for receiving bid is 02 Dec, 2014 at 11.00 hrs.

• For shipment scheduled between Jan’15 and Mar’15, the quantity to be purchase is 780,000 MT (6 cape size); NCV min 5,700 kcal/kg
• For shipment scheduled between Apr’15 and Jun’15, the quantity to be purchase is 440,000 MT (6 Panamex); NCV  min 4,600 kcal/kg

3. Formosa Plastic Group (FPG): Taiwan’s FPG has again tendered  for unspecified quantities of Bituminous coal. Closing date of bids is 24 Nov, 2014.
