Russia: Europe sanctions drag down coal deliveries via railway

Amid Europe’s sanctions on Russian energy exports, coal deliveries from Russian Railways fell by 5% y-o-y to 176.2 mnt during Jan-Jun’22. The total volume of cargo stood at 614.9 mnt, whereas June shipments were at 100 mnt, down 5% m-o-m. Coal deliveries continue to account for a large share amid strong demand from China and India.
