Russia: Gazprom declares force majeure on gas supplies to some European buyers

Russia’s natural gas supplier Gazprom has declared force majeure on three European companies and notified that it cannot guarantee gas supplies amid “extraordinary” circumstances. This has come three days ahead of the end of the annual maintenance program of Nord Stream 1 pipeline delivering Russian gas to Germany and beyond. This is likely to raise thermal coal prices amid Europe’s strong demand against the backdrop of energy crisis.
