Trading and mining giant Glencore is expanding a coal mine in Australia’s methane hotspot. The activities are set to be done at Hail Creek mine region which would involve digging up coal through surface mining. The Anglo-Swiss firm is targeting a 15% reduction in its emissions by 2026 and a 50% cut by 2035. It has also announced to cap coal output and slowly curtail production until the closing of mines by 2050.
