Structure Prices in Western India slump by upto INR 1,000/MT in Nov’14

Amid falling Scrap prices in the global market and liquidity crunch in the domestic market, Structure prices across India are under pressure.

Western Region

Structure offers in Ahmedabad fell by upto INR 1,000/MT since last 5 days on the grounds of falling demand & Scrap prices in the market. Few traders & manufacturers believe that the prime reason of price fall is liquidity crunch in the domestic market. Scrap prices in Bhavnagar/Alang (Gujarat) slumped by upto INR 1,900/MT in this month. At the end of last week, Structure offers have fallen by INR 500/MT. While, offers down by INR 1,500-1,700/MT M-o-M. Currently, Channel 75 is being offered at INR 32,000/MT.

A trader in Ahmedabad stated, “Structure demand is limited in the market and buyers are expecting prices to correct further in next few days, which will again hit demand adversely.”

Structure prices in Mumbai were stable since last 2 weeks, but from starting of this week, it fell by INR 600/MT. Angle 40 is being offered at INR 33,600/MT.

Central Region

Raipur Heavy Structure market has also witness price correction of INR 300/MT in a week and slumped by INR 1,100-1,200/MT M-o-M. Raipur based Khayati Structure is offering H-Beam 152 at INR 34,400/MT ex-Raipur (advance payment). While, Light Structure segment is varying continuously and fell by upto INR 500/MT W-o-W. Angle 25 offers are hovering in the range of INR 33,300-33,400/MT. Demand in steel sector has also fallen because of negative buying sentiments. Meanwhile, transporters in Raipur are on strike since 5 days in order to increase freight charges.

North-East Region

Ghaziabad manufacturers revised their gauge difference from 01 Nov, 2014. Here, prices have fallen by INR 300-500/MT in this month. Currently, I-Beam 175 is being offered at INR 36,400/MT ex-Ghaziabad by K L Steels.
