China: Coal imports fall by 7% m-o-m to 19 mnt in June

China’s total coal imports fell by 7% m-o-m to 19 mnt in June and by 33% y-o-y, customs data showed. The fall indicates Chinese buyers’ inclination towards domestic coal amid elevated import prices and a cap on domestic coal prices introduced by the government this year. During Jan-June period, the country’s total coal imports were at 120 mnt, down by 19% y-o-y basis.
