Australia: Coal supplies from Newcastle remain affected due to heavy rainfall

Due to heavy rainfall in Australia, coal mining operations in New South Wales will be suspended temporarily, hampering thermal coal supplies. Along with this, New Castle Port – the key coal exporting port – continues to remain closed for the sixth day and would take weeks to repair and resume to normalcy, market participants informed. In fact heavy rains are forecasted in Australia in the coming weeks which may affect the supply of both coking and thermal coal from the country.
