South Asia: Imported scrap offers up; Indian buyers inactive

South Asia’s imported scrap prices went up further in recent deals. Mills are actively procuring before the Eid holidays. Indian mills are mostly quiet, awaiting a clearer picture.
  • Around 2,000 t of UK-origin shredded is being traded at $470-472/t, CFR Qasim. SteelMint’s assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $472/t CFR Pakistan, an increase of $8-10/t d-o-d.
  •  The price of around 1,000 t of UK-origin shredded scrap into Bangladesh stands at $480/t CFR, and 1500 t of HMS 1 has been booked at $465-470/t CFR Bangladesh basis.
  • UK-origin shredded scrap into Bangladesh stands at $495/t CFR, up by $10/t d-o-d.
  • Imported shredded scrap prices into India stand at $460/t CFR Nhava Sheva, unchanged d-o-d.
