Japan’s manganese ore imports up 15% m-o-m in May

Japan’s manganese ore imports rose by 15% to 86,841 t in May’22 against 75,400 t in Apr’22. This rise in imports was because of increased purchases by mills due to low inventory. Major exporting countries to Japan were South Africa (64,612 t, up by 182%) followed by Australia, and Gabon.
Manganese ore imports in Jan-May’22 increased by 16% y-o-y to 419,112 t.
