Investments in coal may rise 10% in 2022: IEA

Investments in coal are expected to increase by 10% y-o-y this year as various countries (especially EU) are seeking alternative sources of fuel to improve energy security, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Russia-Ukraine war has led to the shortage of natural gas supplies, resulting in European countries switching to coal for their energy requirements. China and India are expected to lead the investments in coal as they are the largest consumers.
