India: South African RB3 coal sold at INR 13,500/t at Gopalpur Port

With demand for South African RB3 (4800 kcal/kg NAR) grade coal on the rise, a bulk quantity of 10,000 t was sold at INR 13,500/t at Gopalpur Port, while another 4,000 t was sold at INR 14,000/t ex-Vizag. Sponge iron manufacturers continued avoiding bulk procurement of RB2 (5500 kcal/kg NAR) coal as offers were heard to be higher at INR 17,000-18,000/t ex-Gangavaram simultaneously with the rising RB1 index.
