World crude steel production falls 3.5%, y-o-y, in May

Crude steel output of the 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) fell by 3.5% y-o-y to 169.5 mnt in May’22. However, production rose 4% compared with 162.7 mnt in Apr’22.

• China produced 96.6 mnt, down 3.5% y-o-y.
• India’s production increased 17.3% y-o-y to 10.6 mnt.
• Japan’s production declined by 4.2% y-o-y to 8.1 mnt.
