Rio Tinto has delivered the first iron ore from the 43 mnt/year Gudai-Darri mine in Western Australia’s Pilbara. The mine’s commissioning and ramp-up is expected to boost iron ore production volumes and improve product mix in the second half of this year. Rio’s iron ore shipment guidance for CY’22 remains stable at 320-335 mnt (100% basis) subject to risks related to new mine ramp-up, weather and cultural heritage management.
