Average electricity prices at Indian Energy Exchange’s (IEX) day-ahead-market decreased 33% m-o-m to INR 6.76/unit in May’22 against INR 10.06/unit in Apr. However, prices were 139% higher on the year compared to INR 2.83/unit in May’21. The significant correction in monthly prices was supported by the government’s timely intervention to address supply constraints and higher output from renewable and hydro-power plants which improved power availability.
