South Korea: Cargo Coalition general strike disrupting shipments for steel majors

The National Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) and the Freight Solidarity of Public Transport Workers (Cargo Coalition) in South Korea have gone on an indefinite strike on 7 Jun’22. This has caused shipment disruption for steelmakers like POSCO and Hyundai Steel. The blockade at the Pohang works entrance and exit has led to delay of 20,000 t of trucking volume as against the average daily cargo volume of 50,000 t.
