India’s coal production rises 34%, y-o-y, in May

India’s coal production increased by 34% y-o-y to 71.3 mnt in May’22 compared to 53.27 mnt in May’21. Production also rose 7% m-o-m from 66.58 mnt in Apr. Out the total output, the contribution of Coal India was 54.72 mnt while Singareni Collieries Company produced 6.04 mnt. A substantial rise was seen from a mixed bag of captive and merchant miners that registered output in excess of 10 mnt during the month.
