Bhubaneswar: The union Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) has accorded Environmental Clearance to Rungta Mines’ 4 MnT pa Iron Pellet plant in Dudhaposi and Balibeda Tahsils of mineral rich Keonjhar District.
The company will invest INR 88.5 billion in the project and the total land requirement for the proposed project will be 128.18 acres. Out of this, 37 acres have already been acquired by Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) and rest 91 acres are under the process of acquisition.
The company would need about 4.8 MnT of Iron ore fines for the plant, which will be sourced from the company’s Jajang Iron ore mines. Similarly, the project would need 72,706 MT of Coke breeze/coal fines and 2.8 lakh tones of coal, which will be imported from South Africa.
The proposal was considered in the 19th meeting of Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) held on 28-30 May, 2014. On the basis of the recommendations of EAC, the ministry has accorded Environmental Clearance to the project.
