A spike in natural gas and oil prices has again boosted South African RB1 (6000 kcal/kg NAR) grade coal prices that had eased in the last one week. As on 31 May’22, prices rose to $334/t, up $11/t d-o-d and $51/t w-o-w. US gas prices hit a fresh high on Tuesday, while brent crude topped $125/t following the European Union’s announcement to ban 90% of Russian oil by the year-end.
