Lloyds Metals and Energy Limited (LMEL), a leading iron and steel company, has recently obtained clearance to dispatch mined iron ore out of Maharashtra. It can also export the material if so required by its customers.
In line with the above clearance, the company has thus far dispatched to major steel mills in the nearby states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The company is also exploring other markets, including Telangana.
Co eyes 3 mnt of iron ore output in FY23
Lloyds Metals is operating an iron ore mine, spread over an area of 348.09 hectare in Surjagarh village in Gadchiroli district, Maharashtra. The mine has estimated reserves of 90 million tonnes (mnt). The ore mined in Surjagarh is of 63%+ Fe grade, and suitable for all routes of steel-making – DRI, blast furnace and pellets.
With Thriveni Earth Movers recently coming on board as LMEL’s mine developer and operator (MDO), and co-promoter, there has been an exponential improvement in the company’s mining performance. The company expects to achieve an output of 3 mnt of iron ore in FY23.
