India: Non-coking coal imports fall by 9% in first-half of May’22

India’s thermal coal imports recorded a 9% m-o-m fall to 5.98 mnt during 1-15 May. The highest fall has been observed in Australian coal import shipment arrival followed by Mozambique. Elevated prices have taken a toll on the country’s buying appetite for thermal coal.Interestingly, coal imports from USA have doubled m-o-m to 0.56 mnt in this period amid increased buying by the cement sector.
