China: Iron ore spot prices fall as Chinese steel margins contract

On 18 May 22, the spot price of iron ore in China fell further due to weak demand. Benchmark Fe 62% fines prices decreased by $3.55/t to $126.60/t CFR China. Furthermore, due to falling coke prices and shrinking steel margins, mills in China are likely to prefer sinter over lumps or premiums, according to the Indian source.
